Four floor systems to discuss
A basement gym, laundry area, workshop and gathering space have different priorities. Compare appearance, cleaning, texture and how equipment or furnishings will be used before choosing the finish.
Solid Color / High-Solids Epoxy
A consistent color for a straightforward finished surface. Discuss the coating build, topcoat and cleaning needs for your floor.
Decorative Flake / Polyaspartic
A multicolor flake finish with a polyaspartic finish option. Choose the blend and surface texture with your project team.
Metallic / Custom Designer Epoxy
A flowing, custom decorative appearance. Review samples, lighting and design expectations; every installed pattern varies.
Quartz-Filled Epoxy
An epoxy system incorporating quartz aggregate. Discuss the texture and cleaning routine appropriate to the space.
The final recommendation depends on the slab, moisture, exposure, traffic and your design goals. Texture can be tailored, but no floor is slip-proof. Return-to-use timing is confirmed for the selected system and site conditions.
Compare the finishes and questions to ask
Assess moisture before coating a basement
Tell us about damp patches, water intrusion, past leaks and any existing floor finish. Moisture and substrate condition determine whether the planned coating is appropriate; active water problems need to be resolved before installation.
Surface repairs, grinding and any agreed resurfacing or leveling are scoped for the floor condition. These services do not repair structural foundations or replace waterproofing.
For a basement estimate, share photos, approximate floor area, your city, access details and your intended use. We discuss the installation area, moving belongings and the selected system’s return-to-use instructions.
Review concrete repair and leveling
What affects the cost of a basement floor?
Define the room boundaries and concrete work before comparing finishes. A useful quote explains both the visible finish and the work required underneath it.
Floor area and room boundaries
Confirm whether the proposal includes one room or connected spaces. Discuss closets, doorways, utility areas and transitions to existing flooring.
Material removal and preparation
Tell us about old flooring, paint or coatings. Ask which removal and preparation tasks are included and how the existing slab will be assessed.
Surface repairs and moisture review
Identify cracks, wear, low areas and any damp patches or water history. Agree on surface repairs, any separate leveling work and whether water problems need attention before coating.
Finish and installation access
Discuss the chosen coating, design and texture along with the equipment route, stairs and belongings in the room. These details help define the installation scope and work plan.
Choose the finish around how you use the basement
Home gym or hobby room
Show where equipment, benches or work tables will sit. Discuss moving heavy items, any mats you plan to use and the care instructions for the proposed finish.
Laundry or utility area
Point out appliances, drains and areas that need ongoing access. Agree on which surfaces are included and how the work will be coordinated around fixed equipment.
Gathering or storage space
Bring a color reference and explain the furniture and storage layout. Identify adjoining floor finishes and doorways so the proposal covers the transitions you want addressed.

- The measured area and exact room boundaries.
- Removal, preparation and specified surface repairs.
- The selected system, appearance and agreed texture.
- Any separate resurfacing, leveling or other work.
- Access, moving responsibilities and the work schedule.
- Return-to-use, cleaning guidance and written project terms.

Basement floor questions
Can I choose a metallic or flake finish?
Yes, those are among our approved floor choices. We review the slab, moisture and design expectations first, then discuss samples and an appropriate system for the room.
Will a coating fix a wet basement?
No. A coating is a finish for a suitable slab. Water intrusion and active leaks need separate correction; the assessment determines whether coating can proceed.
Can a coating level an uneven basement floor?
A coating alone does not flatten the slab. We can assess appropriate surface repairs, resurfacing or leveling and define that work separately in the proposal.
Are closets and utility areas included?
Walk through the exact boundaries with us. The quote should name the included rooms and areas, including anything around fixed equipment or adjoining floors.
When can furniture or gym equipment go back?
Follow the selected system’s instructions for your project. Ask about walking and returning heavy items separately so you can plan moving and access.
