Four floor systems to discuss
Start with how you use the garage: parking, storage, hobbies or workshop use. Decorative flake is one option; the appearance you prefer must also suit the condition and demands of your slab.
Solid Color / High-Solids Epoxy
A consistent color for a straightforward finished surface. Discuss the coating build, topcoat and cleaning needs for your floor.
Decorative Flake / Polyaspartic
A multicolor flake finish with a polyaspartic finish option. Choose the blend and surface texture with your project team.
Metallic / Custom Designer Epoxy
A flowing, custom decorative appearance. Review samples, lighting and design expectations; every installed pattern varies.
Quartz-Filled Epoxy
An epoxy system incorporating quartz aggregate. Discuss the texture and cleaning routine appropriate to the space.
The final recommendation depends on the slab, moisture, exposure, traffic and your design goals. Texture can be tailored, but no floor is slip-proof. Return-to-use timing is confirmed for the selected system and site conditions.
Compare the finishes and questions to ask
Plan the garage preparation and finish
Tell us about peeling paint, pitting, cracks, oil spots and any previous coating. Surface contamination and moisture can affect adhesion, so the preparation and repair scope is assessed before installation.
Grinding and suitable surface repairs prepare the concrete for the agreed system. If low spots or widespread surface wear need attention, we can assess resurfacing or leveling separately. Coating alone does not flatten an uneven slab.
Share approximate floor dimensions, photos, your city and any steps or edges you want included. The estimate explains the preparation, finish and access requirements. We provide instructions for clearing the garage, parking and cleaning after installation.

What changes the cost of a garage floor?
Two garages with similar dimensions can need different amounts of work. Compare the area and the written scope together when reviewing a quote.
Area and included surfaces
Start with the main floor, then agree on any steps, edges or other surfaces. Identify areas beneath fixed storage and anything outside the main installation area.
Existing coatings and contamination
Old paint, peeling coatings and oil spots need assessment. The proposal should identify any removal or preparation required for the existing surface.
Repairs and floor condition
Cracks, pitting, worn areas and low spots can change the preparation scope. Clarify which repairs are included and whether resurfacing or leveling is a separate item.
Finish and design choices
The chosen system, flake blend, custom design and texture are part of the scope. Compare the specified finish along with the preparation, rather than comparing total prices alone.
Compare what each garage quote includes
- Measured area: Main floor and any agreed steps or edges.
- Preparation: Removal of existing material, surface preparation and treatment of identified problem areas.
- Repairs: Which defects are included, and any work priced separately.
- Coating system: The specified system, finish, color or blend and any agreed texture.
- Access and belongings: Who clears the space, what stays in place and how the work area will be accessed.
- Completion and care: Return-to-use instructions, cleaning guidance and written project terms.
Review the four floor systems before your estimate
Plan the time your garage will be out of use
Agree on the clearing date, work window and access before the project starts. Ask when people can walk on the floor, when a vehicle can return and when heavy storage or workshop equipment can move back. Those instructions depend on the chosen system and site conditions; the installation day alone does not define the return-to-use time.
Garage floor questions
Can an old coating be covered?
We inspect its condition and bond before deciding on removal or another suitable preparation method. Loose or failing material must be addressed; the estimate defines the work.
How much will my garage floor cost?
Area, coating removal, surface damage, contamination, access and the selected finish affect price. Send photos and approximate dimensions for a free initial review; final scope remains subject to site assessment.
Are steps and edges included in the quote?
Confirm those surfaces during the walkthrough. The proposal should identify the included areas so you can compare the same scope across quotes.
When can I park on the finished floor?
We confirm the selected system’s return-to-use instructions for your project. Ask separately about walking, parking and returning heavy items before scheduling the work.
What should I send for an initial estimate?
Share your city or ZIP code, approximate floor dimensions, overall photos and close-ups of any problem areas. Include your preferred appearance, existing coatings, moisture concerns, steps or edges and scheduling needs.
